It's not like I had any control over this. You think I woke up one day and said, hey I'll fall in love with Danny's wife today? No! That's not how it works. If I had a choice, I wouldn't be talking to you right now!"

"Yeah, I know how she is. I married her." I say, "And you better get over her, because I can't be friends with someone who's stare at my wife when they come over to watch a football game." I open the door to the apartment, and walk back in. Hoping he'd get that I'm done, and he should leave. I shut the door behind me, that's when I catch eyes with Gale who may or may not have been standing close enough to the door, to possibly listen through it. I bit my lip.

I'm sitting casually on the couch reading a book. I look up, "What did Shawn wanna talk about, honey?"
I come in without skipping a beat. "Alright, f*ck you man, if you think I'm gonna take that and turn in for the night. You can blame me all you want but you can't flip out because I told you the truth."
I didn't know what to think. I was just scared. I look up at Danny.

"Ok. First don't curse in front of my kid, and yes I can flip out, because you still like her. Get out." I say stepping closer. I was not in the mood.

Gale, at this point figured something was really wrong, and ran to Jen, climbing up on the couch next to her to hide.

I put Gale on my lap and hug in close to me, "You still...what?"
"Jen, he knows. You can drop the act!"
"No, you...still...?"
"Yeah, okay? I'm not just gonna suddenly feel different one day! You're the first person I've ever felt this way about, so fine whatever! Now everyone knows!"

"It'd be one thing if you were over her. But you're not. End of discussion. Get out. I'm not saying it again." I say, wondering why he had to be taller than me. And have more limbs than me too.

Gale buries his head into Jen's stomach, trying to not cry.

"Don't talk to her like that!" I almost yelled, I grabbed Shawn by the shirt, and pushed him up against the door, hard. I held him there. Which was actually kind of hard to do, with one arm. "You wanna fight it out? Huh? Think its ok, to follow me into my home, and make my child upset? Cause its not. And you are so lucky I'm missing an arm right, now. Cause I'd punch you. Get out."

I covered my ears.

I'm shocked at first, but I get calm fast. I was in the military, this is nothing. Okay it's not nothing, it's Danny. My best friend. I stay calm though. "Danny, I upset you. I can admit that. I have done a horrible thing." Bits of anger come into my voice without my consent, "But I swear to God, if you don't get off me right now, I will take all of that back."

Maybe it was the medication I was on for my stump of an arm. Or maybe I've been out of the military for too long. But my training was not kicking in right now. All I could think about is how he came into my home, and now my son was crying. And it pissed me off. I couldn't get myself to calm down. Instead I shoved him harder.

I grab Danny's wrist tightly, "Hey man." I say quietly, "I don't wanna fight you. But if I have to, then at least have to decency to take it outside."

"Yeah, well that's what I was trying to do, but I only have one arm. Which you're holding right now, so open the door." I answer quietly. I hadn't been trying to shove him, just reach the door knob that was behind him, so i could knock him outside.

"Ahh good." I say, annoyed. I twisted my wrist out of his hand and shoved him out the door. It wasn't until a few minutes ago, that I realized only having one arm, makes it very difficult to fight someone who's not Alex. This was not gonna go well for me at all.

I take a few steps away from Danny to keep myself at a safe distance, "Never thought I'd wanna hurt you, man." I say, getting ready to go at him.

"Yeah, well never thought you'd be attracted to my wife either. But, hell it happen." I say, finally remembering some stuff I learned in the military. I got ready to be attacked, knowing that I was the weaker one right now, my best shot was playing defense.

"That's not what I'm mad at." I say. I trusted Jen not to do something like that. I stepped to the side, narrowly missing being punched in the face. I stepped back in, and attempted to punch him back.

He gets me that time. I stumble back and rub my cheek. "Then what are you mad about, man!? That I gotta crush on your wife!?" I go for a punch in the gut.

I didn't answer, as I attempted to move out of the way. I was too slow though, and gasped as his fist made contact with my gut. "Stop trying to make it sound like it's no big deal you have a crush on my wife." I say, swinging back at him.

My heart drops for a second as I duck just in time. "Obviously that's a problem, Danny! And you can blame me all you want! But goddamnit what are you so afraid of!? I tell you something you don't wanna hear and you spiral out of control!" I go to punch his face again.

I get punched in the face. It was hard enough that I stumbled back into a wall. "To be honest, I didn't actually spiral out of control, until after you followed me into my home." I wipe blood off my nose. "And you don't get it. I can trust you with my life, but apparently I can't trust you too be near my wife. You're suppose to be my best friend, and I can't trust you not to look at my wife, like you wish she were yours." I throw a punch at his face.

I step aside but it was too close for comfort. Danny always was faster than me. "You think I was gonna do something!? Man, for all you know I told you so you would keep me from doing something stupid! Because I care about you, man!!" I take him by the shirt and throw him at the wall.

I slam against the wall, hitting my head against it, then I landed on my arm that doesn't actually exist. Which hurt way more than it probably should. I stumbled back to my feet. "Don't know man, maybe because she seemed pretty shocked you were still into her."
